otl
statement

'otl' stands for 'on the lavatory' and is a series of photographs of various objects and materials arranged on the 398 lavatory seat. The photographs began as a sort of twist on the notion of a still life, the white plastic seat acting as base or ‘table’ for the objects. The seat has what is, to me at least, a beautiful oval shape and a cool ‘modern’ appearance. The project soon became as much or more about temporary sculptural arrangements as still life. The striking sidelight cast by the bathroom window is integral to the series. There is a slight but unavoidable Duchampian reference to the whole project.
